Theresa Payton, expert on breaches and cyberattacks, will share insights from her experience fighting cyber criminals and guide attendees on mitigating threats through technology
Clearwater, FL, June 26, 2018 – (ISC)² – the world’s largest nonprofit association of certified cybersecurity professionals – today announced a keynote speaker for its 2018 Security Congress, Theresa Payton, former chief information officer for the White House and one of the star investigators of CBS's TV show, "Hunted," a reality competition series where teams try to evade capture.
“Theresa Payton is one of the country’s most respected authorities on security, breaches and fraud mitigation and exactly the kind of speaker our attendees have come to expect from Security Congress,” said Brian Correia, managing director, North America, (ISC)². “We look forward to hearing her first-hand experiences and learning how to prepare for success in the battle against cybercrime.”
Payton will be the keynote speaker on the second day of (ISC)²’s annual Security Congress event held in New Orleans October 8-10. Her session is “Hype or Reality? Your Workplace and Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, & the Internet of Things” and will focus on new technologies in the cybersecurity space and how to incorporate them into your strategy, while maintaining a secure environment.
Payton was the first female to serve as the White House CIO, overseeing IT operations for President George W. Bush and his staff. She was ranked fourth on the IFSEC Global international list of the world’s top 50 influencers in security & fire 2017. Payton is CEO of Fortalice Solutions, an industry-leading security consulting company, and co-founder of Dark Cubed, a cybersecurity product company. She began her career in financial services, serving in executive roles at Wachovia and Bank of America, where she melded her experience in technology systems with leadership and business development.
“New technologies are emerging daily, but ‘new’ doesn’t always mean ‘safe’,” said Payton. “My experience in both the private and public sector has taught me invaluable lessons about the risks of our connected world and I will be sharing a blueprint for Security Congress attendees to stay a step ahead.”
Security Congress will be attended by more than 2,000 professionals and will feature more than 100 educational and thought-leadership sessions, including workshops, panel discussions, research presentations and case studies. Since 2011, (ISC)² has hosted this annual conference around the United States, with this year’s event taking place at the New Orleans Marriott.
