AppGuard also Announces that multiple Symantec Japan Executives have Joined the Company, including former President and CTO
CHANTILLY, Va., July 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- AppGuard LLC, maker of intelligent prevention endpoint protection software, announced its official launch at Black Hat USA. This is the result of a recent $50 million investment made by an investor group led by ANA Holdings and six other Japanese companies into AppGuard's parent company, Blue Planet-works, Inc., a Tokyo, Japan-based company. This allows AppGuard LLC to focus on its flagship security software, AppGuard, for the connected world.
"Hackers are generating new malware at record speed – 1 million per day or more – and, unfortunately, traditional detection based security solutions that employ a 'find and destroy' approach as well as emerging technologies such as AI/machine learning have not been able to keep up," said Mike Fumai, President and COO of AppGuard LLC. "AppGuard is the only solution that blocks both known and unknown malware without introducing added complexities or hidden costs. With AppGuard, we're able to stop – and did stop -- attacks, like WannaCry and Petya, at the initial stages and beyond without requiring explicit detection of the attack, disrupting the user experience, or degrading system performance."
AppGuard is based on patented dynamic isolation technology. It prevents all endpoint breaches while allowing applications and the computer systems to operate correctly. It is simple for ordinary computer administrators to manage because it is not complex. AppGuard is only 1MB in size -- other vendor products are more than 100 times larger.
Unlike traditional detection based technologies requiring threat intelligence databases such as signature/pattern matching, behavioral analytics, AI/machine learning, AppGuard does not require updates or continuous Internet access for new algorithms or threat information from the cloud. AppGuard protection does not rely on knowing what vulnerability exploits and malware looks like. It simply ensures that endpoints operate and function correctly. Its small foot print, high performance, and set-and-forget features are ideal for PCs, servers, IoT, connected-vehicles, and smartphones.
With the news of its launch, AppGuard also officially announced that Hirokazu Higuma, former President of Symantec Japan, and Hirotaka Sakajiri, former regional CTO of Symantec, have joined Blue Planet-works. Higuma brings over 24 years of IT and High Technology experience working at Symantec, Microsoft and Altera (now part of Intel). Sakajiri brings over 30 years of IT and High Technology experience working at Symantec, Verisign (acquired by Symantec), Orange Business Services and Toshiba.
AppGuard has been recognized by prominent industry analysts as a leading product for next generation isolation and containment endpoint protection. It is also a repeat winner for Best-Anti-Malware product in the marketplace for 2014, 2015 and 2016 from GSN Homeland Security Awards and won a Homeland Security Award from American Security Today in 2016.
